On our last morning in Paris we picked up a Renault Picasso from the Car hire place at the Gare d'est and drove east to the Champagne district.
After an excellent lunch at La Grillardiere (an old fram house on the N4, near Linthes between Sézanne and Fere Champenoise)
we proceeded to Giffaumont-Champaubert by the largest inland man made lake - Lac du Der-Chantecoq.
The lake's water is used for irrigation and it's a large holiday park with camping, sailing, hiking and bird watching.
